Spanish FA issues Antonio Rudiger lengthy match ban

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has been issued a lengthy ban following his incident with the referee during the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

Lucas Vazquez and Jude Bellingham were also issued red cards during the game after the expressed their displeasure towards the end of the game.

Rudiger and Vazquez were furious from the touchline which led to them receiving red cards from referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea for dissent from the sidelines, while Bellingham was also sent off for indecent behaviour.

The German international and his team-mate Lucas Vazquez were shown red cards for their reaction to a foul given against Kylian Mbappe shortly before the final whistle. There were initial reports that Antonio Rudiger could be suspended for at least 12 matches, Vazquez was also handed a two-match ban for his protests against the officials.

The referee of the day Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea said in his report that Rudiger was dismissed for “throwing an object from the technical area, which missed me”. On the other hand, RFEF has revoked the red card given to midfielder Jude Bellingham for dissent after the final whistle.
