Spotify down for thousands of users

Spotify users are in turmoil as the music streaming service goes down for thousands, leaving them without their favourite playlists. With over 50,000 reported issues in the UK alone according to Down Detector, people have turned to social media to express their frustration and confusion.

Folks on Twitter are sharing their Spotify woes. Cancelcloud posted: “Who’s come on to twitter to see if spotify is down?” while Gracie tweeted: “Spotify is down and the thoughts are getting in.”

Wukko couldn’t believe it, writing: “spotify just went down how am i supposed to work.” Emma asked: “So with Spotify down… do we just use Youtube like we used to in 2011?”

Lou vented: “why is spotify not working AGAIN.” M highlighted the annoying outage: “my spotify keeps pausing every song after 10 seconds” Steff added: “Waking up to Spotify being down feels like waking up to a note saying your wife has left you and took the kids.”

Down detector showed a big spike in Spotify outages this afternoon

App Venturist shared their surprise: “I thought I could hate on Spotify engineering because their product choices have been questionable but… My Spotify buffered for the first time today and I restarted my entire internet setup – it never dawned that it could be down. I’ve never seen it down. I think it is…” Diorgvbi lamented the sudden interruption: ” the fact my music just stopped because spotify is down.. i didn’t realise this was possible..”, reports the Express.

Martin summed up everyone’s mood perfectly: “Do something, the silence is deafening.”

Spotify has acknowledged the technical hiccup, with Spotify Status tweeting: “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!.” It later added: “We are aware of the outage and working to resolve it as soon as possible. The reports of this being a security hack are false.”
