Story

I moved into a particular house deep inside the streets with my 12year old daughter. It was a two-bedroom flat, and I was fortunate to get it at a cheap price, considering how house prices were skyrocketing at that time. I was a single mother. Meanwhile, my name is mercy.

There was one particular spot in the at the living room that the tiles had pulled out and I always see water coming out from the ground every morning. I called one of the bricklayers and paid them to seal it. To my surprise, the water continued to resurface each morning despite the repairs. Determined to get to the bottom of it, I stayed up one night to monitor the situation firsthand, only to discover that the water did not appear the following morning.

The next day the water continued to surface so I endured it and kept sweeping out the water every morning then prepare my daughter and take her to her school. Barely a month I moved in, I noticed that my only daughter Hannah started having issues sleeping at night she’d often cry out to meet me in my room shouting “Mummy spirit. Spirit. Spirit”. I’d be the one to console her but it continued regardless. Additionally, in my room, I could hear strange sounds of unexplainable creatures scurrying in the ceiling. Initially, I dismissed these noises as just normal rats until one fateful night when I spotted a snake lurking under my bed.

I ran outside with my black tight like a mãd woman. Witnessed by those present, none were able to locate the snake that night, speculating that it had likely found a hiding spot somewhere within the house. Despite a thorough search, the elusive snake remained unaccounted for. Due to that tragic incident,I decided to be sleeping in one of the couch in the living room.

I called the agent that gave me info about the house but his phone number was completely switched off. Furthermore, the landlord was frequently absent, with our communication limited to a single phone conversation on the day I signed the rental agreement.

However, one of the nights my spirit told me to wake up and check on Hannah but she was not in the room. Her bags and textbooks were on the floor and the door was ajar. Knowing Hannah to be a cautious girl, I was puzzled by her sudden departure without informing me. I went to my room to fetch my key to open the back door leading outside, only to come face-to-face with a sight behind me that nearly stopped my heart.
