“Baaabe!!!”

I called out to my wife 

This happened some days ago

She was in the kitchen and I was in the parlour watching Man United’s game on TV

I wanted her to turn on the fan for me as the switch was next to the kitchen door, but she didn’t answer me so I called out again…

“Babe?!!”

Just then she came out complaining that I’m disturbing her…

“Ohhh, what is it na…every time babe babe babe, is it a crime to stay with you in this house?” She complained

“Can you even stay five minutes in this house without calling me?” She added

“Eh? Who are you that I cannot stay for ordinary five minutes without calling you…in fact one whole day sef I won’t talk to you, tah!” I challenged

“Is that so? Oya let’s bet na, 5k…you will call me again before the next five minutes” 

“What is 5k? Make it ten thousand madam, I won’t call you for anything” I claimed

We crossed our pinky fingers together and broke it apart to seal the bet and she went back to the kitchen

Then I noticed that the parlour was now very hot…she had not turned on the fan

 I shouted “Babe o” before I could realise myself, and she immediately ran out

“Ehen, I told you…you can’t stay five minutes without calling me, shey you’ve seen it now” she bragged

I just kept quiet and when she was going back to the kitchen this time, I told her to turn on the fan for me

We ate and went to bed that night and she didn’t even ask for the money, I thought she had forgotten about it

The next morning, after our prayers, I asked her about the money and she said I should not bother about it

“Eh? You mean you don’t need the money again?” I asked in shock and she replied in the affirmative

I started hailing her…

“Eii, that’s why I love you my baby, my own babe, my sweetheart, my love, the sugar in my tea, the cockroach in my cupboard, the dust wey dey enter my eye, the oil in my stew, the fish in my river…my wife, you do well I swear”

She was just smiling and I was happy too cos I wouldn’t have to give her the money again

I then left to the room to go and check what was happening online, and as I opened my phone…I saw something unusual

10k was gone from my account

My wife transferred the money to her account while I was asleep… I’m just angry because I was hailing her for nothing

But she will hear from me soon
