*TOPIC: THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF GOD’S VOICE*

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” John 10:27-28.

*MESSAGE*

Before the days of the internet and instant messaging, the telephone was the major link through which loved ones located miles apart could communicate with each other. An anxious mother that needed to hear the voice of her child working in the other part of the country would call and say, “I just needed to hear your voice.” Even under the same roof, a frightened child can call out from her bed at night, “Dad?” and is reassured by the returning voice: “I’m right here, my daughter.” That is to say, the human voice can bridge distances and bring comfort like nothing else.

It is the same with the voice of God. We think of Him as being in heaven and sometimes forget that He is in us and us as well. And even though we don’t hear His audible voice, we can “hear” His voice at any time through His Word and the way the Spirit applies the Word to our lives individually.

Just as a child can recognize a parent’s voice in the dark, so we can recognize God’s voice in our darkest moments. Jesus said His sheep hear His voice and follow Him. His voice tells us that we are never separate from Him. When you wonder where God is in your life, listen to His voice through His Word and pray to remember that He is near to you. And when you hear His voice, be prepared to follow Him.

1. Father, thank You for giving us access to Your voice through Your Word.
