‘This is the best summer perfume I’ve tried this year

I’m a strong advocate for changing your perfumes with the seasons. While some fragrances are versatile enough for year-round use, there’s something about switching to a lighter, summer scent when the sun starts to shine that can instantly lift your spirits.

As a beauty writer, I’ve sampled countless scents, but the latest release from Ellis Brooklyn has quickly become a favourite, particularly for those in search of a new summer fragrance. The brand new Ellis Brooklyn Miami Nectar perfume boasts a fruity, tropical aroma that immediately transports you to a sunny beach – even if you haven’t left the UK all year.

The newly launched Miami Nectar is now available at Space NK and comes in two sizes. The full-sized 50ml bottle retails at £126, while the travel-friendly 10ml version costs £35, making it perfect for slipping into your hand luggage for your next getaway.

From the moment I spritzed Miami Nectar, I knew it had earned a top spot on my list of summer perfume favourites. Its opening notes of pink pineapple, palm leaf, and coconut water instantly evoke a tropical vibe.

The heart notes of plumeria, jasmine and frangipani then lend a warmer, richer aroma once it settles on the skin. The final base notes of amberwood, vanilla and moss offer a creamy undertone, striking the perfect balance between sweet and earthy and giving the perfume an elevated, sophisticated feel.

Ellis Brooklyn’s Miami Nectar brought to mind Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess Flora Verde Eau de Parfum, which is slightly more affordable at £70 for a 50ml bottle. However, having tried both, I lean towards the fresher, less musky scent of Miami Nectar.

Miami Nectar is also one of those fragrances that lingers all day – and by all day, I mean from dawn till dusk. A few spritzes in the morning, and I can still catch its scent on my clothes and skin as I wind down for the night.

It’s free from parabens and phthalates, crafted with vegan-friendly and eco-conscious ingredients, making it suitable for everyone (and all skin types). The bottle itself also has a premium vibe, and the cap features a magnetic closure ensuring it stays put when tossed into your handbag. But there’s no sugar-coating it – it’s definitely a splurge, especially for a 50ml bottle.

For those seeking a more wallet-friendly option, the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Flora Verde is an excellent choice, as well as PHLUR’s Solar Power, priced at £99, boasting a scent that captures “the glow of sunlight” – the epitome of a summer fragrance. Alternatively, you could go for Sol De Janeiro’s Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62 Mist, currently a steal at £19.20 (reduced from £24), offering a delightful tropical aroma, though it may not linger as long as a classic perfume, reports the Mirror.
