Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of appointing Thomas Frank as their new head coach, with confirmation expected as early as this weekend.
Talks between Spurs and Brentford have reportedly progressed positively, with growing confidence that Frank could be unveiled within the next 48 hours as the successor to Ange Postecoglou, who was dismissed just 16 days after leading Tottenham to Europa League glory, the club’s first major trophy in 17 years.
Negotiations are said to be amicable, with all parties keen to agree swiftly. According to BBC Sport, newly appointed Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham, who officially took office last Monday, is playing a key role in the hiring process alongside club chairman Daniel Levy.
Brentford are entitled to a compensation package worth around £10 million for the 51-year-old Dane, who has been with the club since 2016. That fee could increase depending on the number of staff members Frank chooses to bring with him to North London.
Frank took full charge of Brentford in 2018, after initially serving as assistant manager, and led the Bees into the Premier League by winning the Championship play-off final in 2021.
Since then, he has earned widespread acclaim for establishing Brentford in the top flight on a modest budget.
Brentford finished 10th in the 2024/25 Premier League season, well above Tottenham, who slumped to 17th, winning just 11 of their 38 matches.
Frank’s appointment would mark a significant change in direction for Spurs as they look to rebuild following a disappointing domestic campaign, despite their European triumph.
