In a release, police said the crash occurred at about 6 p.m. at Twin Elm Road and Brophy Drive in the Richmond area.

The crash involved a vehicle that collided with “farm equipment.”

Ottawa Fire Services were called at about 6:05 p.m.

“Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the collision involved a sedan that was nose-first into a ditch with extensive damage and a tractor towing tandem disks,” OFS reported on X.

Firefighters said one of the victims was ejected from the vehicle, while the other was trapped inside.

“Multiple bystanders were helping the two patients upon arrival,” the fire service noted.

Teams stabilized the sedan before initiating the extrication process. A hose line was advanced as a precaution.

Specialized tools allowed the firefighters to remove the passenger-side doors and the roof of the vehicle, freeing the trapped victim.

The injured teens were taken to CHEO with life-threatening injuries.

Ottawa Fire Services thanked bystanders who began the rescue and recovery efforts.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam video of this incident. Anyone with information should contact the Ottawa Police Service fatal collision investigation unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2345.
