Inter Miami hit the road to take on Canadian outfit Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer action.
After the brilliant start to the 2024 campaign, Vancouver have struggled in recent weeks with just one win in their last seven league matches played. However, Vanni Sartini’s side still remain in a strong position in the Western Conference table with 19 points collected from 13 matches played.
The other side of the matchup sees the Herons travel up north of the border after their most recent win over DC United. It wasn’t the most convincing victory by the south Florida side, but they managed to extend their unbeaten run to seven with six wins and one draw during that span. Miami sit atop the Supporters’ Shield standings after 15 matches played with 31 points.
Here’s 90min’s guide to the Whitecaps vs the Herons.
This will be the first meeting between Vancouver White caps and Inter Miami.

Vancouver are likely be without both Damir Kreilach and Sam Adekugbe as the pair are dealing with respective ankle and calf injuries.
Vancouver Whitecaps predicted lineup vs Inter Miami ( 3-4-3 ): Takaoka; Blackmon, Laborda, Brown; Raposo, Vite, Cubas, Shopf; Gauld, White, Picault.
Diego Gomez remains sidelined through injury / Megan Briggs/GettyImages
Miami boss Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino will still be without Diego Gomez with the midfielder still recovering from an ankle injury. However, Federico Redondo and Ian Fray have reportedly returned to training and could make an appearance off the bench soon for the Herons.
Nicolas Freire — who’s on loan from Liga MX outfit Pumas — suffered a torn ACL vs DC and thus will miss the rest of the campaign.
Inter Miami predicted lineup vs Vancouver Whitecaps ( 4-3-3 ): Callender; Weigandt, Aviles, Kryvtsov, Alba; Gressel, Busquets Cremaschi; Messi, Suarez, Rojas.
Despite the recent fall-off from Vancouver, they could still pose a threat to the Herons’ defense wit the solid duo of Brian White and Ryan Gauld up front.
However, Miami have too much firepower in their frontline to now come away from three points. The Herons will win comfortably away from home in their first-ever match vs the Whitecaps at BC Place to continue their stay at the top of the Supporters’ Shield standings.
Prediction: Vancouver Whitecaps 1-3 Inter Miami
