Ottawa police say the alleged hate-related assault occurred on an OC Transpo bus just before noon on Friday.

Police say the woman was arrested and charged with assault, two counts of mischief interfering with lawful enjoyment and breach of probation.

The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

They are also encouraging anyone who witnesses or experiences such incidents to report them to police.
