Ottawa firefighters were called to the scene at about 8:14 p.m., finding two cars disabled with airbags deployed.

One person was trapped in one of the cars and fire crews stabilized the vehicle before beginning an extrication.

With the use of specialized gear, the woman was pulled to safety by about 8:42 p.m..

Four people were taken to hospital in stable condition.
